The pain of losing a child is unimaginable but for many people it’s a hash reality.
My partner Mike and I were expecting beautiful twin boys, Noah and Teddy. But our dreams of double buggies and matching clothes were suddenly shattered when we were told at a routine scan that one of our twins had a condition called anencephaly which has 100% mortality rate.
We were crushed and we refused to accept it. “Doctors are wrong all the time!” I kept telling Mike. Not this time.
We were lucky enough to have two precious hours with our Teddy before he peacefully passed away in our arms and through our loss we faced many dark times.
This darkness was made bearable thanks to the wonderful staff at the UHW along with Ty Hafan and NHS blood and transplant UK but we really couldn’t have got through it without SANDS (Still Births and Neonatal Deaths Society).
In order to show our appreciation for the amazing work they do, we are organising a fabulous Pamper and Shopping Evening this September.
So, after the long summer holidays – why not treat yourself to some pampering and retail therapy whilst raising money for a good cause at the same time?
On September 16th at the Masonic Hall Penarth (Stanwell Road) 7pm – 9pm, we will be holding a Pamper and Shopping night, all to raise money for the fantastic charity SANDS. The charity supports anyone who has been affected by the death of a baby before, during or shortly after birth, offering emotional support and information for parents, grandparents, siblings, children, families and friends, health professionals and others.
We have lots of stalls from local businesses for you to browse and buy from, such as jewellery, handbags, chocolate, candles and much more. There will also be therapists offering a range of treatments and tarot card readers offering different readings. To top it all off – we are holding a raffle which gives you the chance to win some fabulous prizes!
