It’s a Kind of Magic at Tŷ Llandaff as staff put on a show for residents

A Cardiff care home kept their residents’ spirits up by holding a special magical ‘Rainbow Party’ to recognise all the magnificent work NHS, care and key workers are carrying out in Wales in dealing with the coronavirus outbreak.
Staff from Tŷ Llandaff, a private nursing, residential and respite care home in Pontcanna, dressed up in rainbow coloured clothes, decorated the home with rainbow pictures and accessories and also produced a short video on its Facebook page for families and relatives to watch.
The rainbow has become a symbol of gratitude for the NHS during the pandemic and people have used it as a way of uniting the UK in battling with the virus.
Members of the Tŷ Llandaff activities team put on some musical entertainment, while Head Chef Christopher Bohun and his team produced a delicious buffet for residents to enjoy afterwards.
The home closed its doors to non-essential visitors in mid-March and is currently free of Covid-19. All staff members in direct contact with residents are wearing full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in order to protect those in their care from the virus.
Tŷ Llandaff care home manager Lisa Cristina said:
“Our Rainbow Party was absolutely brilliant and our residents really enjoyed the day. There was so much laughter, good food and fantastic company.
“Everyone dressed up and joined in and the pictures and video on Facebook are fantastic. I have a great team around me at Tŷ Llandaff – they have been fantastic and I can’t thank them enough. Massive claps and cheers to all of them from me.”
