Rhiwbina Saturday 2nd July.
Put the date in your diary because this year’s Summer Festival promises to be the biggest and best event yet.
Rhiwbina Events Committee have been busy planning the event through the spring months and it will all come to a climax on the first Saturday in July.
This year’s event will tie in with the Roald Dahl centenary celebrations, and as a result, will feature an all-new street parade based on his work. The magical tale will incorporate references to Rhiwbina.
There will also be a climbing wall, kindly sponsored by Haus. The Art Workshop will be embracing the Roald Dahl theme with an interactive mural and a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory inspired flower garden.
Rhiwbina Events Committee’s Sue Harding told Rhiwbina Living:
“Other events on the day include donkey rides on Y Groes and another first – crazy golf. There will be noodle bikes, ice-cream bikes, all the stalls, the children’s rides and of course, the festival stage sponsored by Simon and Lisa of Edwards & Co, for which we are very grateful. From 12pm, the stage sees lots of community acts from children’s dance groups to the dog show – one of the categories for this years is Roald Dog!
“We also have the fortnight of events around Festival Day that include beer festivals, coach trips, Elvis and themed nights and a Fun Run. All of these are included in the programme which will be available to pick up from Rhiwbina businesses. We’d like to give a special thanks to all our sponsors, especially the Juboraj, who always help in more ways than one.”
Road closures will be in place from 9am until 9pm.
