Rhiwbina has always been a very special place at Christmas but this year’s festive feel to the village may not be as wonderful as it has done in the past unless £2300 is raised by Saturday 21st November.
The Christmas lights have come under threat at the same time as Cardiff Council have started charging community groups to close roads. The council say that while this year they will meet the cost of the £415 legal order required for any road closure, they need contributions towards their costs to provide trained staff. Event organisers have been warned that from next year they may also be liable for the £415 legal fee too.
If you think that you are able to help contribute to this year’s Christmas lights, donations are being taken at Edwards and Co. Estate Agents, who are based at 19 Heol-y-Deri, Rhiwbina.
Any donations that are made if the target is not reached will be put towards the Summer Festival next year.
