As we approach our 10th year, Rhiwbina Living continues to grow. The issue you were reading this time last year was literally half the size of the one that we have published for summer 2016. At 64 pages, this is the biggest issue we’ve ever published! This is thanks to the ongoing support we have from the community and our advertisers who use the magazine as a platform to promote their businesses; and to the residents of Rhiwbina who then use these local services. We continue to use these opportunities to improve your magazine and bring the community together in Rhiwbina’s official and best-loved publication.
You may have noticed that 2016 is the centenary of a certain Mr Roald Dahl, who grew up not far from here. With that in mind, we’ve charted the story of the man on page 10. Rhiwbina children had fun reviewing their favourite Roald Dahl books on page 14, and to continue the theme, we teamed up with The Llandaff Society to produce a Roald Dahl Trail so that you can follow in the footsteps of the famous writer.
Rhiwbeina Primary School drop in with their latest news on page 18, and if you’re stuck for ideas on where to take the kids this summer, we’ve got the lowdown on the most popular places – according to the official authority- the children themselves! Find out what they said on page 22.
We spoke to TV producer Mike Young, who famous for his creation of SuperTed, now lives in Los Angeles.Mike recalls his career to date and his love of Cardiff City Football Club.
With the 2016 Euros now upon us, we take a look at one of Rhiwbina’s former famous footballing residents. The story of John Charles is on page 36.
