Rhiwbina U14s win Blues Plate Semi Final v Merthyr

The Squirrels’ Under 14s travelled to Y Wern to play Merthyr on Sunday 7th April in the semi-final of the Blues Cup Plate competition and came away with a superb 24-26 victory.
It was a great afternoon’s play by both sides and a really gutsy defensive effort by Rhiwbina. The Squirrels won with four fine tries, including a brace by wing Gideon Emery. His first was a lucky one as he followed up a kick over the Merthyr line which was spilt, and his second-half effort helped secure the win for the Squirrels in the sun at The Wern and a Plate final at the Arms Park in May. Other Squirrel tries came from Lewis Crow and Ed Matheson. Well done all, and our thanks to both the hosts and the organisers.
