Rhiwbina RFC had another very successful year at senior team level, with the First XV finishing their first season in Division One East as runners up behind runaway Champions Penallta.
After a hiccup mid season, they came back strongly with four straight victories to claim the second spot, with captain Brett Chatwin leading the way as top points scorer.
The Second XV won the Cardiff & District Premier Division with Anthony Davies as their leading points scorer. During the course of the season, eight of the Seconds progressed to play for the First XV, showing that there is a clear progression route at Rhiwbina for young players who show the quality and aptitude required. The Squirrels are one of very few Cardiff clubs to run a Third XV, and they too had a successful season, both in the league and cup competitions.
Mini and Junior rugby is still as strong as ever at Rhiwbina, and things are also looking good at Youth level next season as young players progress through the age groups. The club has embarked on a five year plan of development on and off the field, and runs regular development sessions for its coaches and team managers at all levels under senior coaches Gareth Linton and Jared Lougher, who are both staying at the helm for next season.
Please do come along to Caedelyn for yourselves to watch entertaining and enjoyable rugby at all levels. If you or a member of your family are interested in playing at any level, then please contact the club via their website http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/rhiwbina/
