Help tackle loneliness and social isolation for the elderly in your local communities this Christmastime with Pugh’s Garden Villages ‘Don’t Bear Christmas Alone’ Campaign
Pugh’s Garden Villages have partnered with Age Cymru this year to help combat loneliness and social isolation for older people and are there’s a really easy way you can get involved!
Pugh’s have launched their lovely Pugh Bear teddy bear and have written an accompanying heart-warming storybook titled ‘The Bear in the Window’. They will be donating all profits from both to Age Cymru’s Friend in Need Telephone Befriending Service.
Friend-in-Need is a telephone friendship service designed specifically by Age Cymru to support older people who feel alone, lonely and are isolated. Each week one of their trained volunteers calls an older person who is feeling lonely. The older person is called at the same time each week, and is engaged in conversation, providing company and a friendly voice. This service has been a life-line for many local, lonely older people but the service currently receives no funding.
To help provide friendship and support for lonely older people in our local communities this Christmas and raise vital funds for the Friend In Need Service, simply purchase a Pugh Bear and ‘The Bear in the Window’ Story Book from your local Pugh’s Garden Centre in either Radyr or Wenvoe OR order online via the Pugh’s website: https://www.pughsgardencentre.co.uk/pugh-bear-book
