Carer’s brainwave brings pet-lover and pooches together

Local caregiver, Alison Hood from Home Instead Senior Care Cardiff, knew her client Mary loved dogs, so contacted the local dog shelter to see what opportunities they could get involved with.
After Alison made contact with Dog Shelter, they were delighted to be invited to take part in dog-walking training, in preparation for becoming an official volunteer dog walker. Last week Alison and Mary both thoroughly enjoyed their first training session and cannot wait until their next visit.
Alison explains:
“In the 7 months I have been visiting Mary, she has often talked about dogs and it seemed such a shame that someone so fit and active wasn’t able to enjoy being in contact with them. This is when it dawned on me that the local dog shelter would welcome someone like Mary.”
