Pughs open Garden Kitchen in Abergavenny

Pughs Abergavenny

Inspired by the season of growth and grounded in Welsh pride, The Pugh Family are excited to share that they have opened a brand new Garden Kitchen in the market town of Abergavenny.

This exciting new food and lifestyle destination opened in January, offering a vibrant, community-focused space combining exceptional Welsh food, beautiful design and a deep-rooted family story.

Located at a spacious new site on the edge of the town, The Garden Kitchen has been described by Monmouthshire County Council and Abergavenny Town Council as “the new gateway to Abergavenny”, recognising its role in welcoming visitors and contributing to the town’s thriving food and culture scene.

The Garden Kitchen is part of Pugh’s, a family-run Welsh business with more than 70 years of heritage, owned and operated by the Pugh family. Known for its garden centres and growing nursery across South Wales, the business is now bringing its passion for quality, creativity and community to Abergavenny for the first time.

“We’re thrilled to be planting roots in another Welsh Town. This marks our second Garden Kitchen location, joining our much loved home in Newport, and continuing our 70 year journey of growing something special right here in Wales.”

At the heart of the new destination is an expanded restaurant, serving beautifully crafted, seasonal dishes using some of the finest local Welsh ingredients. Designed as a place to relax, meet and linger, the restaurant reflects the warmth and care that have defined the family business for generations.

Beyond the dining experience, visitors can explore a private-hire event space, a gourmet deli and artisan food hall, a curated collection of stylish gifts, and a beautifully presented selection of houseplants – all thoughtfully designed to encourage discovery and inspire everyday living.

Becoming a meaningful part of the local community is central to the ethos of Pugh’s as it plants new roots in Abergavenny. The team is passionate about celebrating Welsh culture and championing local producers, something that sits at the heart of both the Food Hall and the wider Garden Kitchen experience.

The opening marks a significant moment not only for the business, but for the town itself – bringing new jobs, supporting local suppliers and adding to Abergavenny’s reputation as one of Wales’ most exciting food destinations.
