Going Green Is On The Agenda

Community Garden Gabalfa 2

Ideas on everything from growing your own veg to cycling to work and community energy projects will be on the agenda at an Environment event being held by Julie Morgan AM in north Cardiff this October.

The event is being held on October 3 in Llanishen Leisure Centre from 10am-1pm. It is open to everyone with an interest in helping make the environment  we all share healthier, greener and more sustainable.

The organisers of the event and Julie are asking for you to come along and bring your ideas which will be discussed in small, friendly groups.

Sue Essex, former Assembly environment minister, who is helping Julie with the event, said: “If you come along you will be able attend workshops and discussions on topics including the natural environment, local environment, community energy schemes such as bulk-buying electricity and joint solar schemes, active travel and local food.

“We hope that it will be a great way to share ideas – for example if you want to know more about Julie’s community vegetable project in Whitchurch or exchange information about the best routes to use when cycling to work in Cardiff.

“We want to know what people think are the important environment issues and ideas so that Julie can feed these back to the Assembly. These ideas can go forward to help to influence environment policy for the benefit of all of us and for future generations.”

Some high profile speakers at the event – which is free, tea and coffee available – include Katie-Jo Luxton of RSPB Cymru and former MP and now environmental consultant and campaigner, Alan Simpson.

You are invited to turn up on the day or email  Meryl.james@assembly.wales or call Julie’s office on 029 2061 4577.
