Are you ready to fall in love with opera?

WNO family

After garnering fabulous reviews for its Autumn season openers, Welsh National Opera is welcoming a brand-new crowd to Wales Millennium Centre tonight (Wednesday 30) – children and young people who may not yet know just how much they’re going to love classical music and opera.

A magical, mythology-inspired family concert will introduce children to the world of live orchestral music, with singer and broadcaster Elin Llwyd taking the audience’s hand and leading them through the myths of Ancient Greece, Rome and Wales.

“This concert is going to be so much fun,” says Elin (pictured in rehearsals yesterday). “The audience gets to play along while enjoying a specially delivered taste of classical music and opera. To be in this auditorium filled with sound and to feel the orchestra playing at full power is going to be a really special experience.”

The one-hour concert begins at 6.30pm and lasts an hour (no interval). There’ll be English and Welsh captions and BS interpretation. Ear defenders are also available. Elin will be joined on stage in Cardiff by soprano Eiry Price, tenor Andrew Henley and dancers Krystal S. Lowe and Tom Kemp. After this opening performance, the concert heads to Llandudno on October 23 before touring.
