Cardiff Lions Club to present awards

Cardiff Lions Club

Cardiff Lions Club are pleased to announce that 20 Sea Cadets in Cardiff between the ages of 11 and 18 have achieved gold and silver standard certificates under their Lions Club International Young Leaders in Service scheme. The cadets have kept a log of between 50 and 100 hours spent on voluntary service with families or in their community in a 12 month period.

Presentation of Certificates to the cadets will take place at TS Cardiff SCC, Ty Llewellyn, Morgan Street, Cardiff CF10 4FG from 7:00pm on Thursday 12 May.

HM Lord-Lieutenant of South Glamorgan Dr Peter Beck MA MD FRCP will present the certificates following inspection. In attendance will be, Councillor Judith Woodman Cardiff City Council. Commander Peter Machin Vive Lord Lieutenant, Lieutenant Commander S Daniels District Officer and Commander Mike Dixon of the Sea Cadets and officers from Lions Clubs International, Lion Keith Wilding and Mrs S Wilding District Governor 105W, Lion John Mounty Zone C Chairperson, Lion Sally Marsh and Mr C Marsh Lion Young Leaders in Service Multiple District (UK & Ireland) Chairperson.

The award of 20 Certificates achieved at one time is both unusual and significant event in the scheme. The activities are chosen from 10 categories – Environment, Public Health, Safety, Literacy & Education, Disaster Relief, Community improvement, Help children, Help elderly, Help Homeless/Hungry, and Other. The benefits to young people include Experience the rewards of giving service to local people, become involved with local Lions, make new friends and find new interests, enhance their C.V.
